Beaver Island explores community solar project for energy security

BEAVER ISLAND, MI – A community solar project is in the works on Lake Michigan’s largest island. Beaver Island’s two townships are exploring the feasibility of building solar power generation to provide electricity for the island’s roughly 600 year-round residents and the thousands who visit during the summer tourism season. The overall goals are better energy security and transition away from fossil fuels.
