Navy combat ship commissioned on Lake Michigan reaches Florida home port

A U.S. Navy combat ship that was built and commissioned on Lake Michigan has reached its home port in Florida, officials announced. The littoral combat ship USS Marinette LCS 25 traversed 15 locks, four Great Lakes and more than 1,400 nautical miles to reach the Atlantic Ocean and then continued its journey to its homeport of Naval Station Mayport, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Defense. It came into port on Monday.
