The ice near a Great Lake’s shoreline might look safe. Looking at it from above, we can see why Great Lakes’ ice is very dangerous.
In the past week, there have been at least two major rescues due to shifting Great Lakes’ ice. A large sheet of ice broke off from the Lake Erie shoreline, trapping 18 people on the floating ice sheet. The ice must be deceiving to some also, as one person didn’t even know he was walking on ice.
