Wildlife refuge reconnects wetlands back to Lake Erie with new 580-acre project

CARROLL TOWNSHIP — Often referred to as the “natural kidneys” of the Great Lakes, wetlands have remained a focal point of the efforts to tackle one of Lake Erie’s most pressing threats, harmful algal blooms fueled by agricultural runoff.
