Mapping the Great Lakes: Proposed legislation would fund lakebed exploration

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A proposed bill in the US House would provide funding to map the lakebeds of the Great Lakes, the world's largest freshwater system. The legislation would direct the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to conduct high-resolution bathymetric mapping of the lakebeds of the Great Lakes and authorize $200 million in appropriations.
