Oldest Great Lakes piping plover, a tiny celebrity, spotted on Georgia island

The oldest living Great Lakes piping plover has survived another migration journey, and is alive and well in her preferred winter stomping grounds. According to a post by the Great Lakes Piping Plover Recovery Effort, the 15-year-old plover, known by researchers as Of,gb:X,Y, or “Gabby” for short, was spotted last week foraging at her favorite winter home on Georgia’s Cumberland Island.
