St. Lawrence Seaway sees nearly 38 million tons pass through waterway in 2023

CORNWALL, Ontario (WWTI) – The St. Lawrence Seaway had a busy year during its longest shipping season ever. On Wednesday, January 31, the Canadian St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation and U.S. Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation jointly announced that nearly 38 million tons of cargo transited the binational system in 2023, which was an overall increase of more than 3.4 percent.
